Hi all,

Can anyone tell me wether it is possible to connect a freeview or satalite box though some sort of device to a laptop, in order to watch it like a TV. There are some things in argos that look as if they might do this but im not sure wether they will. It would just save on takeing both TV & laptop.

Many thanks,

Stean.

Hi Stean

You can get a device which plugs into you USB slot(no freeview box required) on the end is a coaxial socket which you can plug in your ariel. You have to shop around ,some dont come with channel guides so you have to flick through the channels to see whats on . If you type in USB FREEVIEW into the Amazon.co.uk website(search) their are plenty to choose from My advice is read the reviews they are priced from

I use one a 'dongle' type on the laptop in the caravan. It means I can get 1.5 hrs TV on the laptop battery and as much as I dare using an inverter from the car / Van battery.

try searching for 'Freecom' as a brand.

I find that the picture can break up a bit if other programs get higher processing/ memory priority so it's worth shutting down as much as possible. If it's a problem you could also try to increase the priority of the process in task manager.

Thanks for all your replies.

I might not have worded my first question right, but iv got both, a freeview & a satelite box's i just want to view them through the laptop. Id like to be able to use both of them at different times ie freeview for the UK & satelite for fance.

Thanks again.

Stean.
