I have been getting ready for the season ahead, Sterilised the fresh water tank with 2 buckets full of steriliser mix

Then ran mixture through all the taps into the waste tank, not all of it, about half, so as to sterilise both tanks. Then replaced the seperate Drinking water filter (has it's own tap). It is a 'General Ecology' one and not cheap, but this is the first change in 3 years, so not too expensive compared to buying and carrying bottled water.

Sorry for the late reply but i was trawling through the '0' replies section and noticed this.
I have stayed on some sites in the UK where the "drinking" water was absolutely dire and at that time considered a separate water filter luckily one of our party had a caravan with a built in filter so was able to obtain drinking water in reasonable quantities. Fortunately I moved over here and discovered eau de source at Lidl (0.16€ for 2ltr bottles) which solved my problem!
Now how do I start my season, well, I always keep my fresh water tank well topped up even in the winter and because we tend to keep the van in use even if only as a pic-nic vehicle we find that the chlorine added by our water authority does a reasonable job in inhibiting the dreaded algae. where I have been unsure of the water quality I add a sterilizer liquid (sorry its a French product) which contains some sort of silver compound and it at least gives me peace of mind. As for adding strong bleach products IIRC the water heater manufacturers and those that pontificate elsewhere claim that Chlorine and water heaters do not mix so I avoid them.
