Fridge fault

Hi, I have an intermittent problem with my fridge on a 2008 Swift challenger 480, the problem is that the fridge shuts down after say 2 or 3 days on site, the small blue indicator lights starts flashing and indicating fault 12, the fridge model is N112, I have contacted Thetford who arrange for one of their technicians to visit at home but because at the time of the visit the unit was performing perfectly he could find no fault to rectify.
Has anyone experienced this elusive problem.

Code 12 means the DC voltage is out of limits.
The fridge needs a full 12v to power the electronics, if the voltage drops for some reason, the fridge will stop and show Code 12.

If on site you were without hook up, the leisure battery voltage will have dropped enough to cause the fault.

Thanks Damian, coming up with the answer that the Thetford technician should have known. What a credit you are to the forum

Thanks Damian and MOD, What you say is correct Thetfords have said that not only if the 12 volt drops but also if the voltage gets to high can cause the problem, but how do you know when you are on site hooked up ?. When it occurs you can not switch to gas either, so you are left with no fridge and a month ago at Denham club site it was down for 3 days out of the 4 we were there

The over voltage problem is a nuisance I agree, the tolerance is at the upper end 15.5v and lower end 9.5v.
Under normal conditions your on board charger should only charge up to a maximum of 13.5v, or on some newer vans 14v, so should be within the tolerance.
If your charger is taking the battery up to 15.5 or above then that needs investigating as it is causing a potentially dangerous situation with regard the battery gassing.
