fridge, gas or electric

hi all as a new commer i'll be asking lots of daft question, so sorry!

i have just bought a 1979-81 safari, can i run my fridge off the mains or battery when not in use? do you have a choice of gas or electric?. many thanks Alan

The majority of caravan fridges are 3 way.

Gas, Mains electric and 12volt.

Gas is normally used when no mains is available.

Mains electric when on site with hook up, or at home prior to travelling.

12volt only when connected to the tow car and the car engine is running.

If you do not know when the fridge was last serviced, I would strongly advise having it checked over before using it.
