Hi
Does any body out there have any idea about a fault on the Thetford fridge fitted in a Coachman VIP it would appear it has got a mind of its own. For no reason it will turn itself off. The only way to restart is turn the convecter heater on the fire on and for some reason it kick starts the fridge. Then it shows fault 18 sometime fault 14 shows. Dealer says nothing wrong.

Hi welcome to the forum. If you don't get many replies in this section, repost in Technical; I'm sure that someone will be able to help.

Code 14 is a loss of communication between the display and power boards. This should be the highest number you should see. You need to get the whole vans electrics tested could well be something as daft as a staple through a wire somewhere.

Think yourself lucky it's not a code 1. Yes you guessed it back to good old fridge problems again. Having a new mother board fitted (first one on this van) later this month. Have spent the summer with no fridge. Ended up buying a cheap one for in the awning to get us through the main holidays!

We have a Coachman Amara and we have experienced a code 1 problem several times, when the dealer sorted the problem out we were told to remove the lower portion of the outside fridge vent cover and reconnect the plug, we have done this now about twice, and the fridge goes back to working normally, hope this helps if you have this problem in the future.
