From the Back Streets to Buck House

I saw my youngest brother last weekend and he couldn't wait to show me his invitation to a Buckingham Palace garden party on his 50th birthday in July.
As the baby of our family my little brother was always bribed encouraged to do well at school and he ended up with a law degree.
He's active in his local comunity and has done charity work whilst holding down a fairly demanding job as a solicitor specialising in property law ( he completed many of the searches and land acquisitions when Birmingham City Council redeveloped the Bull Ring.)
On his 50th I shall think of him dressed up in his dove grey morning suit nibbling canapes amongst the great and the good in the company of Her Majesty but I'll always remember the six year old urchin in the plastic Batman costume whizzing around the grimy industrial terraced streets of our town on a soapbox cart that I'd made for him.
Well done our kid!!!

Yes, congratulations to your brother Parksy but this beggars the question.

Where did you go wrong

heh! heh! heh!

You must be so proud Parksy-congratulations.

By the way as it's my 50th as well in July, it got me thinking that the invite was sent to the wrong person. He He

Oh Parksy matey,I do so sympathise with you in this matter. We too have a "black sheep" in our family!!! He was just like the other kids once, wagged off school, pinched milk off doorsteps and never revised for exams. We were confident that he would turn out to be a lay about. Then he went to work abroad and was lured to"the dark side".Now he drives a Bentley convertible, has won a series of major industrial awards and has been consulted by the American trades officilas etc etc etc. He is in his early 40s now and we hope he will have learnt his lesson and behave himself. My son do be good now!!!
Yes we are just like you! Proud as Punch!!! Puzzled though!!!!Where do they get it from?????????????

Thanks for the good wishes which I'll pass on to 'our kid' when I see him at my eldest son's wedding this Saturday

Sorry Brum, you've just missed him!
He came out with myself and his brothers for a couple of steady pints earlier but he's gone home to his virgin bed now.
Himself and his two brothers will be round for the full English brekkie early on before he gets spliced, he's a Bluenose through and through so raise a glass to him tomorrow

And, have a great time at your son's wedding today. At least it looks like the sun's coming out.

Thanks Lisa
We had a brilliant day at the wedding with great weather and I passed on congratulations to my kid brother. We were having a good laugh about when he was young, with his Batman outfit and soap box cart and it seems like yesterday but he turns 50 on the 19th which is the day of the Royal garden party. My post-wedding hangover is just about gone now
