our aging cotswold has L shaped chromed 3 footed handles each with 3 screw holes on each corner of the van. the other day putting the van straight on our pitch one pulled off. on investigation all 9 screws (tappers) are slack in the fibreglass and wont screw anything like tight. the round feet also seem to have had an adhesive which has crumbled. so what kind of glue do i need and how can i refill/retap the screw holes in the fibreglass and what substance should i use.

( i tried liquid nails and new screws and it failed today sadly to fix it)

On our newer Swift, the grab handles are conected to a metal frame, what you could do is put a block of wood in the front locker glued to the underside of the fiberglass and screw through the fiberglass into the wood, should hold it into place.

When you have fixed this have you seen the Alko handle that fits on the jockey wheel. Designed for moving the van about. If you get one put the screws through where you have the right tools for the first time- my first go was a disaster suing that small driver i had in the van.
