front towbar

Has any body tried the front towbars from Watling ,if you have please tell me what you thought of them

I wouldn't be without it. Took a few attempts to sort out the steering but now Ive got my confidence I`m well happy.

I went for the self fit and it took about 45 minutes actual work

Do get the offset receptor model as it allows you to look down the side of the van as you drive/manoeuvre.

To clarify John's posting.

If your vehicle is a right-hand drive, then you need the receptor fitting on the nearside to allow you to see down the side of the caravan.

They are excellent, I have had 2 vehicles fitted with them as I cannot have a motor mover fitted to my caravan.

Something to remember tho is never drive the car on the road with the towing hitch in place.

To add to other inquisitive people on site confusion we have added an old black 12N socket on a bracket behind the tow ball and a short length of cable.

I saw a front towball that screwed into the front towing eye on the car, anyone have any info on it?

Yes they can be obtained but before buying one ensure that the threaded towing eye is on the nearside.

My neighbour bought one for his Renault that proved to be useless as it was on the offside (drivers side) and he couldn't see anything other than the caravan interior.

I thought towing eyes were universally on the right side - this offset would work fine with a front towball on a LHD vehicle but not much good for us!

All six 4x4s that I have owned have had towing eyes on both sides of the vehicle, The have all been Japanese though.
