I was wondering if anyone had used a front cover when towing similar to this one. On the past 2 trips I have had a window and paintwork chipped whilst towing.

Are they any good? Easy to fit? Finally are they legal as they would cover the lights at the front of the caravan?

Thanks

I have a towing cover and used it once on a 3000 mile round trip yes it protected the front but regardless how tight you make it there is still movement when this happens it leaves black marks on the frot of the caravan which takes a lot of work to remove.

After using once it is now confined to the garage don't think I will use again

Just my opinion

If the cover obscures the front marker lights then it will render you liable to being reported for covering them as they are a requirement under the lighting regulations.

It would be quite unlikely to be stopped in daylight, but adverse weather or in darkness and you would almost certainly be stopped.

Hi CreakyKnees,

I bought a front towing cover made by Specialised Accessories, cost was £69 from Towequip. The cover is fully lined with a soft downy material which does not scratch the windows etc. The cover does miss out a bit of the caravan approximately 6 inches square on both sides. this is due to the the bulging front of the caravan front. I have spoken to the manufacturers, who are happy to make me two modified lower side pieces to my measurements. Overall I am totally happy with my cover, as it stops the stones, mud and diesel soot getting onto the caravan. It takes approximately 10 minutes to fit, if there are two of you and you need the caravan step to reach the top strap each side. Like someone above said, it does cover the front marker lights, if you do not intend to tow in the dark, I see no problem, it has bright white reflector patches sewn in. If covering the marker lights is illegal, then I think the cover manufacturers would have fitted see through panels. You can get the cover in a choice of colours, even black, so people will think you are towing a Stealth.(anyone seen one yet?????) I have no regrets getting mine, and it does create a talking point at the water/waste points!!!!
