I took our Bessacarr E725 (Fiat Ducato 2.8JTD) for its MOT last week and got a nasty shock.
I was relaxing in the waiting room when the technician came in and said "You have a massive fuel leak, come and have a look",
The underside of the engine and bay was covered in diesel oil and it appeared to have also got onto the cam-belt. This seemed strange at the time because although on our last trip I got an occasional whiff of diesel and had looked underneath and could not see any sign of leakage so thought no more of it. It transpires the high pressure fuel pump is leaking, so only when the engine is running (I checked it after it had been standing for a while).
I have been quoted £1100 which includes MOT test, service and repairs to the horn which is a bit of a blow as finances are a little tight.
Also we had planned to go away in the motorhome this week which we had to cancel as the parts required for repairs won't be available for 7 days.
Looking on the bright side, things could be a lot worse.
George.
