No more IC cars in 20 years ? Not even hybrids ?
What size of battery will move car and 1500kg caravan Roscoff to Almeria in 4 days ?
Will campsite EHU bollards have to include charging points ?

With information currently available quite glad I shall not be here to find out.

Don’t totally rule out other power sources for applications where pure electric may not be suitable. Hydrogen could be a potential source but would still require a distribution infrastructure.

Manufactures may not be selling ic vehicles here in 20 years time, but there will still be millions of if based vehicles on our roads for years to come.

I do agree that based on today's technology and infrastructure, long distance towing is unrealistic. But with the continued improvements in both those aspects, it may be possible in the future, but at the same time I have a suspicion that some of the freedom to get up and go we have at the moment is likely to be curtailed through increased legislation and changes in what may be socially acceptable, or the financial cost of doing it.

When the infrastructure costs of building vastly more charging stations are considered it’s a massive investment for whom? Fuel companies, energy companies or new comers to the market place. Whatever as electric or hybrid vehicles start to gain prominence. I suspect existing fuel stations will start to close or change the mix of products, with diesel possibly becoming more difficult to source. It’s price will undoubtably rise compared to petrol.
Remember 4 star unleaded. Yes it will be available. But it soon went the way of the dinasaur as unleaded cars became mainstream.

Quite simply we have no idea where technology will have taken us by then so what the position will be then is anybodies guess. We will also have had several new goverments so we cannot be sure if that datewill stick. Future events may change things completely.
