Hi,

Have booked 5 nights at Garlieston CC site and thinking of trying Yellow Craig near Edinburgh. Any likes/dislikes and

general opinions of these sites would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

We think Yellowcraig is really great. It is nice being a(very nice) walk away from the beach. You have best of both worlds as site has nice outlook--shrubs and bays and shouldnt be too wild and windy if our summer is still being delayed when you go! Yellowcraig is also top contender for our favourite showers and loos so far! Roomy, clean, feel new, warm, plentiful.

Its has a very good playpark for kids but if you want peace, there are quiet areas of the park too. There is also a pirate playpark on the way to the beach and dog walks in a wooded area, if you have dogs.

Don't know about Yellow Craig but we've stayed at Garlieston. We liked it. There's lots to do and see in the Dumfries and Galloway area. The garden at Glenwhan is beautiful as is the Logan Botanic Garden. Wigtown is full of bookshops and at the time we were there the Town Hall had an ovservation camera on a local osprey nesting site.

We ate out quite a bit, the pub in Garlieston has good pub food and the Steam Packet Inn in Isle of Whithorn had really good and slightly more classy food.

There are lots of good walks nearby. Garlieston was where the Mulberry floating harbours were built in WWII.

Hi.

Just a couple of things to add.

If you like ice cream then Cream of Galloway is a must, you can, if you are luccky design your own ice cream!

The Clansman Restaurant at Port William is well worth the trip, drive over to Glenluce and enjoy a slow drive down the coast road.

Also the A75 has several smoke houses you can visit, the food generally being excellent if a bit expensive.

Steve.
