Hi Everyone,

We have always bbq with coal, however for convenience we are looking into buying gas.Has anyone any recommendations? there are only three of us, so something not too big, and I would like something off the floor. We have noticed more and more people are using the CADAC,any thoughts?

Hi Trudy and Jay

I would recommend the Cadac without hesitation. We used ours for the first time in France and cooked on it at least twice a day for 3 weeks, sometimes 3 times. We cooked pretty much everything on it from pancakes for breakfast, steak on the griddle, stir fry, curry, bolognaise. We boiled rice on the pot stand, and even cooked sausages, chicken and burgers on the BBQ grill!

We have the Carri Chef Delux which has the reversable griddle, the grill, pot stand and skottle, and of course the lid. We will be buying the Paella pan before next summer as this seems to be the way to go to cook larger meals (we catered for 8 this year in France).

In 3 weeks we used about 1.5 camping Gaz 904 bottles (1.8kg bottles in the three weeks, so not too bad.

The lid made a huge difference to the speed of cooking, especially when BBQ with the wire grill, food cooking quickly and evenly without burning.

Cleaning it is pretty easy too, especially the skottle and reversible grill. Ours still looks as good as new even after 3 weeks of hard use.

The only comment I have is CADAC should include height adjusters on the legs, as we had to use beer mats to elvel it so the pancakes stayed round, but apart from that I am a fan.

In conclusion, I would recommend the Cadac. It will be plenty big enough for 3 without being excessive, but will also easily cook food for 8 if you need it to. All you need is the weather to cook outside and the caravan cooker will become redundant!

Cheers

David

Thanks David,

The Cadac certainly looks versatile. Most gas bbq have lava rock coals included, I cannot see these on the CADAC, are they not used?

France sounds fab, no problem with eating outside there then!!!not like here, it's always hit and miss.

Hi Trudy & jay, we are just like you, always used the traditional charcoal BBQ, earlier this year we bought a cadac safari chef, you connect it to the vans gas supply, it has 3 small legs, various cooking methods, very even heat distribution, its really great, we thought the larger cadac was a bit too big for us!

hope this helps, Andrew & sally.
