Hi I new to the caravan scene. We bought a cheap caravan to see how things go before possibly trading up in a year or two. We have a 1997 Eldridge vogue se. I cannot get gas cooker, hob or oven to work. No gas appears to b getting to it. The gas heater is working ok so my problem is cooker/ hob only. There are 3 valves under the cooker and I have double checked that they are on. Any ideas on what I should be checking? There is no smell or sound of gas when I open the switches to light. Any advice would b great. The cooker hobis a spinflo cara. Maybe is there a cut out switch somewhere or would there b a fuse linked to it. The cooker does not have an ignition button
Tks

I know this may sound basic but does your cooke switches require you to hold them in/down until the gas flows through and can then be ignited.

Some cookers had a folding lid over them. These had a hinge interlock which cut the gas supply if the lid was not fully opened. Many of these lids were glass, and could break. If you're was broken and not replaced the hinge may be the problem. All you may need to come to lever it to the open position.

Just for info I think you will find it is an Elddis Vogue which had a body shell in common with many Elddis models of the time. It was so named as the reverse of Siddle who started the original company. This might help if you are looking for similar vans or spares etc on the internet.

There are several possibilities.

First is, as has been said, the controls need to be pushed in and held in until after the gas has lit and the thermocouple holds the gas valve open.

Second is , on that age cooker there most likely will not be a cut off like there is on the newer ones when the lid is closed, if in fact it has a lid, if it does have a lid then it may be that it does have a cut out and that it may be stuck or misaligned.

Third is that as the van is 1997 it will have a cylinder mounted regulator and it may be that the pipework has become blocked with residue, stopping any gas getting to the cooker.

Fourth is that the gas valves have become seized through lack of use or residue corrosion.

As this is all dealing with gas, and the fragility of 1997 fittings, it is strongly suggested to get a qualified caravan engineer to sort it out for you.

Thank you all for your replies and I will answer Damian's as listed.
1. The controls are kept pushed in, as that is how I can smell the gas flow. There is a spark but it fails to ignite the gas.
2. The only lid is on the Hob and I was not aware this needed to be lifted too. The grill works with this lid closed and therefore assumed it does not need to be lifted whilst operating the oven.
3. The caravan is a 2019 model.
4. It works perfectly well once lit from a long lighter, but will not ignite using the peizio button.
I will call in to the dealers over the weekend as it's within a few miles from me.
Regards,

Only 4 in mine due to the heater and water heater being combined. Truma 4 e heater. But there should be one isolator tap for each gas appliance.
