Hello Scott,

Providing the change over unit is working correctly, then teh system should not leave any more gas in the bottles compared to a single bottle system.

If it does leave more gas, then the unit is faulty, and should be returned under warranty to the seller.

I have one as standard fit to my senator 2004.

The system comprises of two gas regulators, one is set higher than the other, cant remember the pressures, but when the pressure drops on the highest set regulator, this supply cuts off and the lowest set regulator takes over.

If you make a note of the lower pressure set point you will know when you are running on the last cylinder.

Sounds more complicated than it is.

The system Ray has I guess is the same as we had on our Senator. Its a Truma system but not sure if its made any more. I have a Gaslow autochangover head on the current Abbey which screws directly on to the existing regulator on a post 2004 van. Works absolutely fine. No gas left in the empty cylinder (have used it both with Calour and BP Lite). An indicator on the valve changes from green to red when the first cylinder has run out.

Hi Guys, thanks for the info..I already have a Senator 2002 that has the system so I know how it works, but I am buying a Pegasus that dosnt have the change over system thats why I wanted to know about the Gasfow system but as it turns out the dealer is taking the change over system from my van my old van and putting on the new van.

Hello Scott.

Your dealer may actually be breaking the law. The system you had in your 2002caravan will almost certainly be set up for either 28mBar Butane or 37mBar Propane.

Your new caravan will be designed for the common 30mBar Propane or Butane standard, and it is illegal to operated it at different pressures, and it cannot be certified as compliant.

What are they going to move over Scott,is it just the Changeover valve that sits on top of the fitted regulator?

Cant see an approved dealer doing anything illegal that would endager life like putting a 37 bar regulator instead on a 30?.

He has to comply with all gas certification if work is done on the van.

Hello Mikey,

There are several different approaches to how a change over systems works. But regardless of the system, if the output pressure from the regulators does not comply with specification of the installation it is illegal.

So for example, it is illegal to use a 37mBar regulator or a 28mBar regulator on a caravan that is designed and tested for 30mBar which is the current standard.

Note I am only referring to the legality of the system.

However, the NCC requirement for touring caravans calls for a bulkhead fitted 30mBar regulator, so the use of bottle top regulators even of they are set to the correct pressure does not comply with the NCC guidelines.

If the change over device does not contravene the gas pressure regulations, then the dealer may fit it.

no there will be no problem, all the dealer needs to do is use the NEW bulkhead regulator, but transfer the two bottle regulators and pipe work, i will transfer mine when i change my van, assuming they still don't fit a automatic changeover system.

That's exactly what they are going to Ray, I couldn't put it better myself.

I saw your post re NEC, (walls on Pegasus) I also agree with you re the walls on the new vans, the way we have got around it is that as an optional extra you can get a newspaper rack put on the wall (the one standard on the Olympus) its fabric and a fair size so that the wall is broken up.
