Hi guys

I've got the [standard] Electrolux 3 way fridge on my 1994 Consette [Elddis]. We've not realy used it on gas much, can i expect similar performace to 240V or is that hopeful?

I would give it a head start by pre cooling everything and prhaps using extra ice packs whilst towing. [I don't find the 12V does much, the red light comes on, anything else i can check?]

Hi Gareth,

Basically the cooling power of the three systems are - gas is best but uncontrolled, then mains and 12 volt are roughly equal.

The heater cartridges that drive the cooling fluid around are the same wattage (about 110 Watts) for both mains and 12 V - the differences some people experience are down to the installation and how towing messes up the airflow.

A good installation should make ice on 12 V when towing. If the fridge doesn't work too well on gas, it needs servicing.

You can certainly try putting the caravan on mains at least 12 hours before...

Hi robert.

thanks for that , i didn't know the gas was so good, i'll get it serviced ASAP. See what it does then, we always 'pump down' on 240V before we go but we are going to lose our parking place where we can hook up this year so i'll need to pre cool on gas or run the genni for a couple of hours.
