Further Checked with Gas Safe Register. Engineers dont have to be registered if caravan not hired out i.e. personal use only. Checked with couple of mobile engineers who confirmed this! Thanks. I have checked. He is not registered. I contacted him and he advised me he does not have to be for a touring van only a residential van. Contacted another who told me same thing. Is this correct?
Thank you for the information. An engineer working on your van should have ACoPS in LPG and wil have an identity card with his photo on it and the parts on which he has been examined on , on the back.
It is quite correct that engineers whop work on PRIVATELY owned and used caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents do NOT have to be Gas Safe registered.
The safeguards with ACoPS are the same as Gas Safe and problems are dealt with by the H&S Executive and RIDDOR, as well as UKAS who are the UK Accreditation Service who oversee the ACoPS register.
