GB sticker

hi all. can anyone tell me how to remove a 10 year old GB sticker from the rear fibre glass/plastic panel on my van without damaging the paintwork. thanks for any help.

Without knowing how it is held on there will be no definitive answer. However there are some ways that it may be removed.

If it is a stick on type try warming it with a hairdryer. This may loosen any adhesive that is securing it but be careful not to go too mad. If it held on with sticky pads then get a length of fishing line and feed down the back of the sticker. Using a gentle sawing motion pull the line across the back of the sticker this will seperate the pads from the stickers. All will need to do is clean off the remains of the pads with white spirit.

There may be a fading problem with the paintwork and the space formally occupied by the sticker will be darker than the rest. Solution put on a new sticker. This may be a way of dealing with the problem from the outset providing you can get a sticker big enough to go over the one you are trying to remove.

If Iain's method does not work you could try this. Cover the sticker and the surounding area with grease and then find proud edges of the sticker and using a PLASTIC scraper gradualy ease away the sticker. Will take time. Do not try to scrape the adehsive thats left, use a cloth soaked in WD40 for that. Polish the area with Tcut.

Unfortunately, if it has been on for 10 years then the surrounding paint will have faded and you will still see the outline. A treatment (gently) with T Cut may blend everything together.

Hi, it wont be under the sticker that has faded with the sun it will be the rest of the paintwork on the van t cut will cut the thin layer of paint on vans too much Autoglym do a colour revive olish its worth a go with this once the sticker is removed

When I was still in the motor some vehicles had hugh graphics on them and if they were damagaged and needed to be replaced we would put the kettle on and when hot we would tip it onto the edge of the graphic and very gently peel it off with our fingers. If you need to cut back the surounding paint then a very mild and finer cutting compound is brasso. Hope that is of some use to you.
