Visiting the Trier area of Germany for the last two weeks of August 2006, and would like to no of any good sites in this area and is there any need to book in advance. Booked on Transeuropa Ferris for £137 return.

There's a campsite in Trier itself but it's relatively noisy. However, there are a number in the area which would be worth looking at:

If you intend to stay for more than a couple of days it would probably be worthwhile booking in advance in August because the area is popular among Dutch visitors.

Tom - A few years back I stayed in Trier and the local site although good for seeing the area was not up to the standard of the CC.

If you are prepared to commute a little you will find some excellent sites along the banks of the Moselle amid the Vines of some of the best white wines in the world.

from Trier you can take a days boat trip along the Moselle and lunch and dine which is washed down by some of the best mit pradikat wines available. GO for it
