getting rid of smell of mothballs in awning

We have just purchased a caravan awning and the previous owners used mothballs to deter pests - help - can anyone give any good ideas of how to get rid of the horrendous smell?
 
Leave it opened out to air. We leave mothballs in the 'van while in storage to deter mice. Smell has gone by the time we get to wherever we are going.

it has been open to the air for the last 4 and half days - the smell has lessened but it definitely still there!
 
Now i dont know how true this is but i was told that if you get a fresh baked loaf of bread , put it in your car and leave it overnight it obsorbs all bad smells dog etc. you could open it up in the car with a couple of loaves and see what happens.
