Our dealer is recommending we have our new caravan protected with Glamour Shield which has a warranty of 4 years. It protects the exterior from damage caused by UV rays and acid rain etc. plus the interior fabrics would have a protective coating to guard against spillages. Here's the web link http://www.glamourshield.com

Your feedback good and bad would be most welcome to help us make an informed choice rather than relying on a dealer who is in the business of making his wages up with sales commission!

Perhaps one of the Moderators could move this to Technical or General to get some more answers.

We had protection, both inside and out, on our van when new. Expensive but probably worth it, especially when OH spilt blackcurrant juice on the seats. It came off without leaving a stain.

Hello DJ,

If you check the titles for all the forum categories you will see what type of posts are expected there. this is the
"New members - say hello
Tell us a bit about yourself and your 'outfit'." which is just to introduce your self. Questions of a technical nature such as yours should ideally be posted in the "Technical" section etc.

Keep posting.

To be fair the default setting for new comments appears to be New Members. I've moved the thread to Technical now :)

I had a similar product applied to our new car some years ago.
I am afraid iimo it is just a another dealer cash cow . Save your money and invest in a good polish like Maguires or Auyoglym, roll up your sleeves and apply elbow grease.
What I found was the stuff wore off after a year and the car needed proper cleaning and repolishing.
What exactly does their 4 year guarantee cover? Caravan stays sparkling clean??

I agree with dustydog , a good polish and some elbow grease , had my car for 12 years and sold it last year , still looking in showroom condition . Well looked after and bodywork immaculate .

My van came with the Paint Seal product, and I have to disagree with Dusty and Craig, brilliant. Only polished it once a year to top it up, but probably didnt even need that in reality. Makes washing the van a doodle as well.
It has now though come to the end of it's 5 year life and you know what that means, yes POLISHING with elbow grease two to three times a year :(
I would have it done again but we are thinking of only keeping the van for next year and then down sizeing so the cost is not justified.

Thanks for all your advise. It seems from my research and replies that some think it's fantastic and others a total waste of money.

It looks as if we'd be better off polishing the caravan ourselves. What are the best products to use for the body work and windows?

..........just for interest really but never less perfectly true.

My tow car is 13 years old and my caravan is nearly 20 years old........they are both owned from brand new.
Neither have ever seen any polish except the type you add to wash water!
Yes an avid polisher could improve the look of both but not my scene I'm afraid.

My previous Merc. tow car had StarGuard treatment and it was very good for the four years I had the car. Recently I've treated the caravan to Fenwicks 'Bobby Dazzler' product and the result is excellent at a fractionj of the cost.

Usual disclaimer - unfortunately i have no financial interest in Fenwicks

Do you think it could be applied to a 'Woman of a Certain Age' to protect her glamour?

Sorry, chaps, but I'm just a little fluffy kitten and don't know about these things!

Merry Kissmass!!
