You lot can have a week to squabble and fight and do whatever you so wish without me being around. My wife and I are off to Paignton in the morning with the grandchildren and our daughter. Wont be back till next weekend. To all those of you going away have a great time and hopefully the weather will shine on you wherever you may be. Those not going away are probably mean, tight fisted miserable so and sos and afraid to part with their money hehehehe. To all, what ever you are doing over the bank holiday weekend enjoy yourselves.

What time are you leaving ... just so we know when we can start talking about you?
Approx 10:00am - have no fear when people are talking about me all others are having a rest. I can take it mate - I used to have the nick name in work on times of Rhino.

Lord B. I am going to make the strongest representation to the upper house to have you banned from all forums within the UK for your cheek. For your information, although a union rep, they reckoned I was so laid back I was horizontal and that it would take a hell of a lot of agro to annoy me - that is why they called me Rhino - thick skinned. It had nothing to do with any part of my anatomy what so ever.

I was the N.U.P.E. ambulance rep for our station during the 89 strike. We were out for 4 months but had unbelievable support off the public and other government agencies. Even had support off some police but most of them made a killing out of us in overtime like they did with the miners. Some of the police locally wouldn't work overtime on principal and use to tell us of all the infighting of who was having the most overtime. Sad really because some of the officers used to come up to our station on a Saturday night to watch Match of the Day but we never saw them again once we went back to work. Police friends told us they were warned by their Superintendent to keep away because they wouldn't be welcome.

Once we had a day of action and lots of reps from various agencies joined us on the picket line. There were firemen, college lecturers, teachers, postal workers, all the utility workers, council employees, etc.

It was only from the publics generosity that we kept going so long.

I remember being invited by our college to do a debate over the dispute. Representing the government were two Tory councillors. I hate blowing my own trumpet but I wiped the floor with them, I must admit encouraged by the students. I can still hear the students laughing and clapping as I shot their argument into flames.

My claim to fame as divisional rep for NATFHE was on picket duty I stopped the Principle from entering the college and asked her to support the lecturing staff. After a lot of discussion she entered the college and called myself and the union branch secretary into her study where we had a very useful meeting regarding the terms and conditions on offer. She made some remarks which appeared favourable and her closing shot was that she would see what she could do. Two weeks later we had a written offer from her which far exceeded our expatations and with one or two amendments were accepted by the college staff. I was asked if I would go as branch chairman but I declined as I felt that I was not fully conversant with union law - I bluffed my way through the meeting with the Principle.

Brian where did you find that? You are far more a computer expert than I will ever be. For all others there is nothing going on between Liz and myself - she is too young for me - she being a young lady whilst I have been told by other contributers on this forum that I am past my sell by date. Anyway I have a good solicitor.

Tuesday 29th. May - back home at 3:30pm after disasterous weekend. Arrived on site on Friday and it took 3 men and 1 woman to erect new awning. Ended up with 16 poles over. Awning was terrable fit to van, leaked like a sieve, inner tent and contents soaking wet, skirt would not fit lower rail, awning kept falling down in wind as too large for caravan, even had tie downs to help support awning in high winds. Three electrical cuts on Saturday (not van or site fault but on grid) and then to cap it all gas was not working to cooker or heater - faulty regulator. Grand daughter and daughter's cloath soaking wet and I had to sleep on the floor of a brand new van for which I had paid
