Hi All,

I currently live in Gloucester and will be travelling to NewQuay in west Wales next weekend.

I am after a good route for caravans. I will be towing with my Picasso, and a 4-berth ABI van.

I have several routes in mind.

1. Along the A40 to Breacon then onto A482 to Lampster then onto Aberaon.

2. A44 from Hereford to Aberystwyth then down the coast on A487.

3. M4 across to Carmarthen and up the A484 to Pentre-cwrt onto A486 and out onto the coast road, A487.

Your comments on the routes, if anyone has done them would be appreciated.

It is a same that routeplanners do not have an option for caravans !

Rgds,

Daz

Hi Daz,

A month or so back we returned from a walking holiday in the Peak District, Snowdonia, and the Gower - so I'd be tempted to use as much of the motorway network as possible.

I'd be tempted to go toll free - using the M50 into Wales and then take the M4 until the very end.

As Frank says - if you use "viamichelin" change your options / preferences for your car type, fuel and current price, and that you have a caravan.

Then you get a route more suitable for caravans, and an idea of the journey time and fuel costs.

Bit late replying Darren, but I'd use the A44 route by taking the A417 out of Gloucester to Leominster. The Lampeter to Aberaeron road is quite naff.

New Quay is a very beautiful place and I used to sail there many yaers ago on a regular basis. The harbour wall is a natural sun trap and also good to fish from in the evening.

Safe journey.

Steve.
