Hi

Can anyone tell me if there is a charge to enter the Gotthard Tunnel or is it included in the vignette?

Thanks, Mike and Ben for your ideas on the route to eastern Italy, they certainly gave us some thought and have spent the weekend pouring over maps.

First time using this forum and have found all the comments very useful.

Hi Carol

What route are you doing?

I am going to go through Belgium and Luxembourg then head for Munich, Then Salzburg, then drop south to cross into Italy at Villach. Its 953 miles from Dunkerke. I wont have to buy a vignette for Switzerland or pay for any motorway use until I get to Austria.

If I let me Autoroute 2004 software come up with the route it comes up with a route through some of france, switzerland and lots of Italy where there are more tolls to pay. Plus, it only saves me 100 miles, which amounts to 2 hours driving and 4 gallons of fuel (

Hi

We are taking the route calais, strasbourg, luzern, milan, bologna and down the coast to pescara and on to ofena. 1087 miles and yes it may be cheaper not using the tolls but we are trying to use motorways and a few tolls as we have not driven through those countries before and want to get there in just over 2 days - limited hols - hoping to help repair any damage to sisters house in the earthquake as the village is only 1/2 hour from the centre of the quake. Its a suck it and see route really and fingers crossed, should be an adventure if nothing else!!!
