Green Flag renewal rip off

Today I had to renew my Green Flag Recovery Plus. Tried the app, tapped on renew...you can't do that you have to call.

Went on the web site, same thing but before leaving I got a quote of £86.90.

Called the number and listened to the 'small print' (small talk I guess), which included the information that agents get a bonus on sales.

Got through to someone and yes we can renew it, same conditions and coverage as last year for over £105.

When I pointed out that as a new customer I could get it for £86.90, they said ok. Which is what I got.

It’s endemic across a wide sector of service providers. So much for trying to retain customer loyalty.

I remember things like this happening years ago but thought it had mostly stopped. This is the first instance I've come across in years.

We have a Service plan with British Gas for some years the renewal this year had jump up a bit but looking online it was cheaper so gave them a ring , i manage to get a discount ,but I beginning to think there no customer loyalty they keep going on your boiler is 6 years old and they often need more repairs last year they only service it . They keep sending emails you need get new one .

We have the top level Mayday cover and the cost for two cars is about £135. One of the cars is 29 years old, but a Toyota.
