Greetings from China

Just to let you all know that I've arrived safely in China and settled in the hotel where I'll be staying the next couple of months. Broadband internet access from the hotel room is free so I'll be able to keep up with the latest gossip in the forum.

I haven't seen a caravan here yet but the traffic is absolutely chaotic and every bit of road is used to get ahead, even if it means overtaking on the inside or, better still, crossing the centre line and using the oncoming lanes if you're held up by traffic on your side. Should traffic lights make a stop unavoidable, and I mean unavoidable because there is traffic on the crossing, not because the lights are red, the usual practice is to stop on an oncoming lane and make a quick start when the lights turn green, then cut in front of the rest of the traffic that is heading the same direction as you. If you want to make a turn, you do it regardless of any following or oncoming traffic. Someone's got to brake, but why should it be you?

Good to hear you arrived ok and that you will be able to log in to the forum and keep in touch.

So we can cross China off the list, for towing a caravan then. The traffic sounds horrendous!

Hi Lutz

I dont post that often so you wont know me but Ive read many of your posts with interest. Glad to know that you arrived in China o.k. and I hope that all goes well during your stay there. The weather here in the English midlands is dull and cloudy so no change there, perhaps our summer time has took its hook as well 😉

Driving sounds an interesting experience over there so you wont be travelling by rickshaw by the sound of things.

Stay lucky ,Steve

Lutz,

I think you ought to have a chauffeur driven car or just stay in all the time !!! Enjoy your stay.....delighted that you can still stay in touch with us all 😱)

Hi lutz what is it like out there. Sounds like very big adventure. Cairo is the most exotic place I have been. Hope you are having a good time.

Colin.
