Grey plug electrics

Hi all, we're off to Isle of Wight tomorrow for a couple of weeks and doing a few last checks on car and caravan I noticed both black and grey plugs on car and van looked a bit corroded so decided to change both black and both grey plugs, all ok in as much that everything is working perfectly ok but I noticed something that may or may not have always been there, on the control panel there is a display showing the voltage in the caravan battery, as soon as I plug the grey plug in to the car the display cuts out, the battery is charging when engine is running cos I've checked it with a multi meter and voltage go's up as soon as I start the car, but with or without the engine running the display on control panel drops out, the fridge which is the only other thing utilising the grey plug also works as it should as in only when the engine is on, as I said it may well be that the control panel display has always done this when grey plug inserted it could just be I only noticed it today cos having changed all the plugs I was checking everything.

It is perfectly right.
As soon as you plug the Grey cable (12S) into the car it activates the habitation relay cutting power to all the interior except the battery charging circuit and fridge.
