Hi. When the handbreak is off it is obviously right down (horizontal). My question is when the handbreak is on, at what angle should the lever be? 60deg 70deg ??
Then assuming because mine is up at 90 deg and it should be more around 60deg, is there a little adjustment near the lever in the A section of the towing A frame? Cheers
Perhaps I should expain the reasson for my question. My handbreak has always been at around 60/70 deg when applied. Chap serviced my van recently and now it is straight up at 90deg.
Does this adjustment have any affect on the alco overrun breaking system?

Older ratchet handbrakes would pull up to about 40-60 degrees. Modern, (which have been around for a long time now), should go up to 80-90 degrees, that is normal and a design feature.

With My Coachman, when I apply the hand brake, it will rise to about 70⁰ the handbook then say to gently push back on the caravan, when you do this the handbrake rises to almost 90⁰..
