Every time i open the van door i notice the muck in the fly screen runner on the floor. Trying to get the dirt out is a pain, so i got a length of 15mm foam pipe insulation and pushed it in to the runner, no more cleaning as the muck cant get in, jub done.

How do you then manage to close the fly screen door if the foam is in place in the runner?

Wouldnt you just remove the foam for when you use the flyscreen? I use similar foam to wedge under the sliding bedroom doors when travelling. This supports what is basicaly a heavy two piece sliding door which hangs from a plastic rail and the whole assemby sits quite just behind the nearside wheel so gets a lot of road impacts. The assembly is far too heavy for the top rail and will either just fall out, or has broken the top plastic rail. Despite attempts to reinforce the rail with brass strips we now find it easier to use the insulating foam wedges, or for some trips the doors are just taken out and we use a chenille door curtain. Saves weight and the hassle of keep repairing the unrepairable! Pipe insulating foam is as essential as duct tape and WD40.
