Harmony Electronics HM10

ABI Award Superstar 1986 Twin Axle.

A friend of mine has just bought one of these vans and is currently bringing it up to scratch (and very nice it is too! )

The charger unit inside is a Harmony Eleconics HM10 but unfortunately, Gary doesn't have any paperwork explaining it's functions.

We've sussed most of it but there is one switch (12v) which we dont know what it does and doesn't seem to hav any effect on the 12v system.

There are 5 black 12v switches in a line which go........................

hot water / taps / ? / interior lights / awning light

we need to know what ? does.

I've trawled the net using various permutations of Harmony Electronics Converter Charger Controle Unit HM10 and even used the telephone number 01482 882888 but have drawn a complete blank.

Any help much appreciated.

You won't get much if anything off the Net about these chargers, essentially though it's a very simple low output 12v trickle charger. The front panel contains 12v distribution switches and fuses plus it should have a larger red 240v switch that lights up for the charger and perhaps another for the fridge. The 12v switches should include 'auxillary' switches that may or may not be connected and might explain why some don't do anything. It's also possible if you pull the whole unit out that it's marked on the back to show what should be doing what.

Output from the charger is around 4amps at 12v and perhaps 1amp at 13.5v so pretty useless. The green/red LED's are to show battery voltage is good or low, as the output from the charger is inadequate the red generally comes on while any battery power at all is used.

Hi Paul ive got an ace globtrotter 1988 and i think the harmony panel is the same.Next time i get my van from storage i will photocopy you a wiring diagram for the harmony unit thats in the van as one was given to me when i had my van by the dealer .
