Has anyone bought one of those imitation baked bean cans?

Has anyone actually paid out for one of these dummy cans in order to hide money and valuables?

Obviously members are not going to say where they hide things, (we have our hidey holes in the caravan), but I cannot believe anyone would buy an empty can.

Hi Tony,

I purchased one that resembles a Heinz baked bean can.

The bottom unclips and you can store in it whatever you want. Guess what I keep in mine?

well Heres the clever bit, I unclip mine and store heinz beans in it. when robbers break into my van and see the pretend baked bean can safe, they pull the bottom off expecting jewels and gold only to be covered in bean juice! amazing init!

lol

Some dog food cans come with a plastic lid to preserve the food until the next feed - why not take the bottom of one of them and put the plastic lid on the bottom - bigger and cheaper.

If they think there might be the possibility of a dog returning it could also prompt them to leave.

I was given, not a baked bean can safe but a John Smith's Bitter can. After seeing how flimsy and obviously false it looked, I binned it. Thieves know to look for those kinds of things. Waste of time and money.

Like Frank, we have a safe bolted to the floor with an electronic combination lock and key. Far more useful and much more secure.

The simple solution is not to leave valuable items (jewellery, cards, cash, drivers license etc) in the van. Take it with you.
