Heated Towel Rail

I have a Compass 634 with an end bathroom and would like to install a low wattage electric towel rail as they do not take up much room and seems a practical solution to drying those wet towels. The caravan is fitted with blown air heating but it is next to useless by the time it eventually gets there.

Has anyone fitted such a heater, if so which type was it oil filled or dry element and what problems have you had if any.

Thanks in anticipation - John

John Ive been looking at this recently, but cannot find what im looking for. All I want is a single bar heated to hang a towel on and also warm the bathroom, however all I can find are large 4/5/6 bar towel rails. Ive nearly given up!!

I have just bought a towel rail for the kitchen, it will also have a 400watt element, and connect to the CH.

I noticed why shopping that quite a lot are around 900cm high, but not sure if all can be fitted with a element.

check out toolstation.com,screwfix.com. ended up buying mine of bathempire.

Also noticed wicks sell some all brass but element only.

Only down side i can see the the weight penalty of the rail.

John,

I have fitted a heated towel rail and it is great...no more wet towels.

Go to WWW.towelradiator.co.uk/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=192

Weighs next to nothing. 60 watt only. not cheap but has worked well for 6 months now. Guaranteed for 2 years .

The rails get hot enough to dry towels but at 60watt does not radiate enough heat to raise temperature of surrounding wallboards etc.

Others availabe from Wickes direct and screwfix.

Like the look of that Sprocket, dont really want one fixed to the wordrobe wall because of heat, and thats the only blank wall we got in the bathroom. I was looking for just 1 rail to fix under the narrow work top by the sink but cant find a heated one anywhere.

Thanks for the reply

We've always had blown central heating for years and always found it brilliant. You just need to work out how and where to route it! The caravann builders just seem to throw it in with little thought on directing it correctly.

Everything dries in our bathrooms in a flash with the blown air on

I fitted blown air heating to our previous 'van, a '92 Elddis cyclone and, being from Yorkshire, didn't buy the Truma insulated ducting. To insulate it, I cut a camping mat into strips, wrapping it around the ducting and used duct tape to seal it. You also might want to insulate the wheel boxes as water pipes often run over the top of these and are prone to freezing in very cold weather.

Trucker

The Truma towel rail has been a revelation to us and it works really well in the California

It depends on the heat from the existing outlet being sufficient of course

Sproket, unfortunatly I cant help you cus I cant fit one in the washroom. I need 420mm width and only have 390mm, so back to the drawing board.

I have checked the ducting today under the van and Swift have used the black stuff so it is somewhat insulated, however the pipe did get warm when heating goingf to the washroom, so I will be getting some insulation after xmas. Ive moved the switch to give more power and therefore heat to thew washroom and well see if this makes a difference whilst were awaqy at new year.

Thank you for those who have helped on this and I hope what I have done will have sorted the problem
