Heater Thermostat

I was looking at another caravan today, but I was put off when I was told that the thermostat on the heater had been bypassed.I presumed that the thermostat was not working and I was wondering how easy is it to access and replace. Any advice would be appreciated, cause otherwise it was a very nice van.

Hello Toro,

without knowing make and age of caravan and heater its is very difficult to offer practical constructive advice.

However if it is anything to do with a gas appliance or pipework, you should use a competent fitter to investigate and advise.

I expect the wall switch thermostat has been bypassed with a remote sensor to overcome the well known heating problem on electric where the wall unit is mounted in the wardrobe wall and shuts the fire down too soon and does not switch it on again too late

I agree with Damien, I would see it as a positive not a negative, especially as mine needs doing and I can't get the damn front of my heater as it's jammed 😱(

I doubt the front is jammed, more likely it is being held in place by a screw or two.

Look between the top of th fire front and th first louvre for a screw at the back holding the fire front to stop it jumping off during travel
