I don't own a 4X4. And I think that 4X4 drivers are a bunch of people who probably won't get stuck on a muddy campsite.

So if you see me in my 2X4, please can I have a tow.

I drive a RWD because I like going round corners fast. That's my personal choice - isn't great to live in a country where we all have a choice.

This whole 4X4 debate amuses me. My neighbour drives a diesel Freelander - probably gets around 35 to 40 to the gallon (pure guess). I drive an E-Class estate - petrol - I get around 25 to the gallon. My car also takes up more road space than the Freelander.

And yet it's my neighbour that's viewed as the villian. Completely senseless. So what's the arguement? Is it that the anti 4X4 brigade don't like tall vehicles? I'd guess that most new 4X4s are better for the environment than most vehicles over 10 years old. (I'm not anti old cars). It just doesn't make sense.

Thats very nice to hear from someone that doesnt have a 4x4.

I have read the posts on this forum and it felt to me that it was all a bit heavy and miserable today.

All of us "coming out" has made me laugh alot tonight, I think that it doesnt really matter what you drive, its meant to be about the love of caravanning that we are all here :)

Possibly - tho it is very satisfying to me to see such comments seeing as the numpties that professed to be some kind of Anti 4x4 "movement" turned out to be one child with a (literally on this forum) a multiple personality.

The facts are as Mike sets out so well.

There is an active Freelander Club if anyone is interested.

I have just had the first promo pack from LR for the new Freelander offering a test drive on the launch day. They include the article from Car Magazine that gives the "Full Story" of the development of the Series 2 Freelander.

It looks very very good.

Hello to all Freelander owners especially my friend who has just got his diesel Freelander back after 2 anxious weeks in France when it broke down 50 miles from the site causing him to arrive by taxi towing his caravan.

This is not to decry Freelanders we have taken it in turns ferrying one another to/from Nissan/Rover garages in France and Spain although this time at 1000 euros his bill was bigger than any before.

All part of the "adventure" of touring abroad.
