I have been reading the forum with interest and had a couple of queries answered by the members already, so this is a great site for a caravanning newbie.
My Financial and Managing Director (F&MD) and I took delivery of a brand new Abbey 416 a few weeks ago, having never had a 'van before. Had great service from the dealership, who bunged in a couple of nights "shakedown" at a nearby caravan site.......good idea. We took along F-i-L and his F&MD, who have been 'vanning for loads of years now. After a shaky start, (we took the sat-nav directions.....need I say more?) it was a tiring but pleasant weekend.
A week later saw us at the Strid Wood CC site, where more finger trouble ensued, not to mention a frayed temper or two! Mostly mine I have to admit.
Anyhow, this last weekend, F&MD and myself met up with S-i-L and family in Shropshire, our first "long" run and, although the site had no amenities apart from an intermittent EHU, we had a great time and felt really relaxed. All the lessons learned and forum advice I picked up came together and paid off handsomely. We can't wait for weekends now and we are having to book time at home to get jobs done!
Thanks to all that contribute to this forum, it is a mine of useful tips and advice and is certainly boosting my confidence with the 'van.
Cheers
John
