Like the previous post I too have posted a question without introducing myself. I have just bought a 2005 Bailey Ranger 5 berth and have traded in my Crown Regent (1996) It has given us pleasure over the last year but now we feel inclined to get something a bit more up market. We really liked the 500/5 when we saw it at the SECC in Glasgow and purely by being in the right place at the right time we got a good deal on a 2005 model. Look forward to some interesting chat, questions and answers.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. We were fortunate - my daughter lives in Motherwell and stayed with her. Only problem was, as usual the M8 through Glasgow was nose to tail for 3 - 4 miles then as we approached our turn off - nothing to be seen to cause the hold up. We live north of Newcastle upon Tyne so suited us to 'kill 2 birds with one stone'. don't think we'll go to another show - too busy for disabled husband on a small electric scooter.

HI Sandra. Welcome to carvanning.

I notice in your 2nd thread that hubby uses a scooter. My wifes parents are both disabled and rely on scooters to get about. I've converted their caravan to take the fold out full width wheel chair ramp you find on "London Taxis" so that they can get better access to the van.

We caravan as a family group of between 3 to 8 vans as the parents can't do any of the caravan chores like aqua roll, cassette, or waste water. Also we have to set up the van which always get's done first so that while setting up the other vans mum can do the bacon butties and tea. Method in our madness you see.

I'll do my best to answer any questions etc, been caravanning myself for 25 Years and between all of our troop there's over 100 years of laughter and experience and still more to learn as we get into different scrapes along the way.

Regards.

Hi Steve, Thanks for the welcome. I am fortunate that the scooter we bought is a light weight one which comes apart. We generally keep the scooter in the car- Xsara Picasso. Hubby had a stoke but is still reasonably mobile and can help with the scooter, but I have found that i can get it in and out the car by taking the battery off. Setting up can be a chore but we manage. Biggest problem was the awning so we bought one of those lightweight porches which acts as a garage when on site and a wet room for the dog ! Looking forward to collecting new van and trying it out before going away for our summer holiday.

Sandra
