I have 2 teenage girls (for my sins) and am looking for a site with facilities that would keep them entertained. No specific place in mind, from Midlands to the South Coast, preferably coastal, although thats not necessary. Im not fond of Haven sites but if the location was good and they had facilites to keep the girls entertained then I would certainly consider it. I would be grateful for any assistance as we just realised there are only 9 weeks to go so we need to get moving. Thanks X

Audrey - it all depends on how old the teanage girls are. Having had a daughter and now a 14 year old grand daughter it is quite a problem keeping them amused.

An excellent site for family entertainmemnt throughout the day/evening, even if it is raining, is Beverley Park in Paignton. They have facilities to cater for all ages - there is no need to go off the site. The only down side is it is very popular and also can be expensive in the school holidays.

If they are like mine then you will always fail to keep them amused because everything you can possibly do or say is "sad" and a love of caravaning only brings the advice of "get a life".

I have to agree with Mike Mc, been there, done that, got the tee shirt.

However, when you do find a site, please can you let us know which one it is so we can avoid it. LOL!

LOL !

Sorry Mike, but that was funny.

We have 2 kids ( 9 and 5 ) and are nearly at that stage. I can laugh now, but it'll be me soon.

Cheers,

Away to get a Life,

Sad Alex.

But then when they are (much!?) older and wiser they will look back on their childhood caravvaning days with fond memories and carry on the tradition....?

Not everyone's cup of tea but Holiday Resort Unity in Brean, Somerset might be ok.

The funfair is next door, the site has horse riding, pedal go carts, cycle hire, bowling and swimming as well as the 'access all areas' club which organises activities for teenage visitors.

The on site facilities are clean and it's an easy two hour tow along the M5 from the Midlands.

(I have no connection to the park, only as a visitor)

We stayed at this site about 18 months ago, there were 4 families of us, all with children with ages ranging from 3 to 16. All had a great time and didn't get bored!

Thanks very much for all your replies, some gave me a good laugh. It is harder when kids get to that age particulary the eldest, at 15 its just not "cool" to go away in the van with us but I like my house too much to leave her in charge of it. They have been away in the can lots every year since they where babies so Im sure one day they will go back to, why wouldnt they? its the best hobby every.

The Unit site looks quite interesting Ive sent for a brochure. Is this theme park quite close to the site? Are there any wee pubs or a town you can walk to from the site?

What about Woolacombe - There is a group of 4 sites (main site Golden Coast), where there is lots going on and there is a bus that travels between the sites and to the beach (small fee). All 4 have pools, clubs etc along with other activities.

The funfair is next door to the caravan park and can be reached via an underpass which connects the site to the fun park. It's less than a five minute walk away.

Unity has two clubhouses with entertainment, a mini bus or a 'road train' is laid on free to take visitors to the clubhouses if they don't want to walk.

Unity is along a road that is lined with holiday parks, pubs, shops, take aways and is a commercial holiday venue.

The nearest supermarkets and town centre is Burnham on Sea, a short drive away.

This is a slightly off beat answer but...

We had a teenage daughter and though at the time we werent into caravanning, anything we did was enjoyed but...

We got her interested in Army Cadets, followed on from Guides etc. She thoroughly enjoyed it and she was well taken care of. Flew in helicopters, canoed etc. She lived in some rough accommodation by her standards.

However, when we went on holidays, she really enjoyed herself as she valued home, its comforts etc. It was a total contrast.

This does not answer your question, but it worked for us.

I have the same thing with my 14 year old daughter, she would rather stay in the caravan reading all day than go out and make friends, but the only site that she seems to really enjoy is Whitemead Forest, Parkend near the Forest of Dean. It has all sorts of activities like zip wiring and a lovely pool and gym complex, evening entertainment yet has always struck us a quite peaceful.
