Ok, I've sold our Abbey 416 GTS (sob) We need a lighter 'van so I can change our '08 Mondeo Estate. Wife wont drive it anymore, too big! Sound's familiar? been here before! Anyway, so I return to a Golf Estate 2.0 Diesel. Now I look for a 'van to suit, I want a 4 berth end W/C with a side dinette witha max weight of 1275? kg. This suits us fine. Anyone with any ideas re manufacture/ model please? I await for some sound advices, Terry.

If you're a member of the Caravan Club you could use their vehicle/ caravan matching service I think. We used it recently and avoided buying a car that wouldnt tow our caravan but it gives you the other option of putting your car details in to find a caravan match ( i think)
The caravan and camping club may have a similar service

Good luck

Cheers MagsAlan for that. I should have added that year/s of 'van would be '08 to '10 with about £8k price range. Think i'll have to do as Mags has suggested. we used to have Bailey's before the Abbey, but I feel the build quality was a bit questionable? I'll start going thru' all the makers and see what comes up. Still would be interested in others thoughts and will look in from time to time.

The 8K price would suggest a 2008 model. If you find anything newer under that price I would look for the catch as it is I think badly underpriced., Given the weight you quote you are looking at the basic lightweight ranges like the Bailey Ranger, Sprite or Xplore but you might also find an Avondale Dart cheaper if the fact they have gone bust does not worry you.. Looking at an advert in todays paper even 2007 Rangers advertised at around £8k so that looks like where you should be looking. I appreciate that the prices leave room for negotiation so 2008 may be feasible.

Well! we've spent quite a large portion of the weekend researching and we've settled? so far, on a '09/'10 Bailey Pageant Champagne as our likely new caravan. This will enable me to change the car also later, to a "wife Friendly" VW Golf 2.0 TDI 140 Estate. Is there anyone on here that has a similar outfit, and how does it perform please?
