hi we have had one of these before in a caravan and it was very tempremental, but it worked but we can't seem to get this one to light we switch the switch on it clicks and then clicks again but the light stays green, before it started flashing which we know is not light but now it stays green but doesn't seem to have light as it doesn't heat up so just wondering what is happening

hi again it is a carver carvelle wall heater which is thermostaically controlled so when the heat drops the heater starts back up again which this isn't.

From the description it is the Carver Caravelle SBE 1800. - all controlled from the wall switch.
Normally, If the gas flame is not igniting, the controller should try two or possibly three times before locking out. This is displayed by the flashing green light which is what your previous one did.
For some reason your controller is not locking out properly, thus the controller or the flame detection electrode in the heater is faulty .
The heater must be quite old, so I have to ask when it was last fully serviced and cleaned out. This will establish what is at fault.
Because it is a gas appliance all installation , service, repairs or removals must be carried out by a competent person.
Gary from Arc systems often contributes to this forum , and he does carry some spares for older Carver models. Perhaps he might be able to help with a replacement controller.

Carver SBE1800 (Caravelle), 'E' I believe standing for 'Electronic' control, albeit Carver did an SBD version which was more powerful and roof flued, so what did 'D' stand for??

hi your correct with the wall heater model, and yes it did start flashing yesterday every time we tried to light it and it did today then after a few attempts it stayed on green permantely, which normally states that it has fired up , but there was no heat as we left it like that for 10 mins but still cold, so not sure what to check now.
so what would you suggest we check for with it being a fault on the control box as there is no fuse inside the box.
so would you know how we can get this working fully again as we are off away in it a week on saturday, cheers for any help!
To be honest Sam you have problems with both water and space heating, both of which sound very much like electronic control failure to me. On top of this, I assume you've just got the van, don't know much of it's history and particularly when the gas system was last serviced or perhaps even used?
My best suggestion then is to get the whole gas system checked out professionally and not just try and get it working of a fashion which may leave you and yours in danger!!.
