Hi,My old computer runs on steam power and takes an eternity to perform the most simple tasks so Santa has bought me another one.However the old one was Windows XP and the new one is Vista and it appears that the modem is not compatible,so what suggestions do you have to sort it,I am on AOL.

Thanks but a couple of questions,which one is compatible with Vista and if my modem will not work I cant get online to downoad the drivers

How does the modem connect is it USB or Ethernet ?
If you look at your modem & see which one it is on that link & when you find it, see if it say's Windows Vista compatable.?
If its not compatable you will have to ring AOL to get them to send you one out which works with Vista
If it is... well you can download the drivers & burn them to a disc & load them onto your new PC..

I am on whats left working on my old PC,I cant find which modem I need,the one I have is BT voyager 105.
It is plugged into the USB on the back of the tower.
As I write I am surrounded by a maze of wires cables etc it would feel at home in a spagehetti factory.)

suggests your modem will not work with Vista.
Ask AOL if they will supply you a new modem, if they need coercing perhaps on the basis that the alternative is for you to terminate and switch to another ISP ;-)
Or maybe switch to a wireless router - it will enable you to connect both and as required additional computers (presumably the new one has wireless?) and using a router will confer a higher degree of security.

You will have to get in touch with your service provider & they should just send you another modem or router.
