Hi I hope someone can Help me.

This is our first caravan and we required to replace the Micro switch on the kitchen tap.But since changing it the pump in the aquarol is on continuously ? Do you think the switch is faulty? or have we done something wrong when fitting it?I have to turn off the pump switch to stop it .

I would appreciate if anyone can help as we are going away next week for our first weeks holiday.Regards Helen.A

p.s model caravan is Sterling Cruach Cullin.2001

Helen,

With no 12 volt power - when you operate the tap lever - you should hear a minute "click" as the micro-switch operates. If you can't, it's likely you installed the switch incorrectly - and the switch is jammed down...

There are two types of micro-switch; normally open (working the tap makes the pump start) and normally closed (working the tap makes the pump stop) - but it sounds like it's always on - so I'd still suggest it wasn't fitted properly

But it could be a faulty switch - but that's very, very rare...

Hi Helen

A suggestion :-

Check all other taps are fully off. Sometimes another tap can be slightly turned on so as to trigger the electrical circuit but not turned enough to allow any water through.

It has happened to me and left me puzzled as to why the submersible pump was not switching off!!

HI Gafferbill,

Thanks for your reply.I thought the same , there must be a tap open, but I checked them all and nothing. As robert on forum thinks maybe it's on wrong.Dad and I will have a look next week and check . What we did find is once dad put the new switch on (carefully to put it back on the same way )he took it back out and the wires had connected themselfs. Is this what happens.Clever little things if they do that.It does give a little click when I put tap on but pump doesn't go off.!!!But thanks again for info.Regards Helen p.s there is a small white contact element would it be touching slightly this may be the cause???

Hi Robert don't know if I sent you a reply?

But thanks for your advice. We do get a click when turning tap on.We did notice when dad put new switch in that the wires connected by themselfs. Is that meant to be ? When dad put switch in he took it back out and hey presto the wires were connected.( clever little things ).But the pump was still running!!! WE noticed a small white plate (called a contact plate I think.)We think we put it back the same way as the instructions said to be careful it was replaced as we found it.So maybe it is touching slightly and this is whats causing the pump to engae. What do you think???

Regards Helen.
