I have been looking at new caravans I particularly like the Iseland bed models however,I have a problem that they are all about 1 foot to long for my storage space.My question is could I take the hitch off the van for storage purposes and put it back on when going off on holiday? This would also act as a theft deterent and gain me the 1 foot required for storage purposes.Is this a good solution or are there problems in doing this?
 
Practical answer - NO

The tow-hitch is internally connected to the braking system via a damper - and you'll regret doing it.
