Help - Water pooling on roof of air awning!

We have the 2015 Kampa Air Ace and the middle rear section water collects in quantity. This is the first time we have had a good rainfall with this type of awning up. The material looks taunt but obviously is allowing water to collect. We have tried moving the front forward, but no luck there. The sides are as taunt as we can get them, but still we get water in the one section.

Our concern is the water stretching the awning in that area and if we have to leave the awning up in wet rainy weather for a couple of hours while out and about. We don't want to stay by the caravan lifting the water off the roof every hour.

Is this common place on this type of awning? Has any one else had this issue? Thanks.

Have had this happen when the pitch sloped upwards away from the van it never did anything but am now aware that it can happen
one way round it is to lft the van up with leveling blocks eitber side to raise the whole of the van up,

We also had some pooling lately in torrential rain, but didn't,t rectify it because the gale force winds that followed it forced us to take the awning down. :eek:hmy: The pitch we were on was fairly flat.

Seems like it :(

Glad this has come to light as I dont have this problem with my pole version.
rang about a second hand one today, only used twice, comes with rear poles and pump, excellent condition. £300.00.
Glad it was the 260 and not the 390 or else it would have been in my possession. (After making a lower offer!!)
Oh and to be truthful it was the earlier version with the tube across the doorway.

2 years ago we returned to the van after a day of rain to find the roof in one area hanging down, full of water. We lowered the leg nearset to get rid of the water, but we notice there is some stretching. We now use extra roof poles in that area of the roof and that seems to work.

My first reply was made on my phone as we were away in the van

Anyway back to the possible problem that Surfer has ....

Most awnings are made to fit the awning rail size from 235 to 250cms ....
My awning rail measures at the wheel centre 247 cms so I'm at the upper end of there range, now every one knows how a extra six inch in height has an advantage  that is why i suggested putting the van on ramps to lift it a little ;) the other possibility is if you try to peg the sides down too tight as it pulls the leg slightly down in the middle near to the door, or if you push the top cross tubes up higher than the sides that will create an area for water to collect ..... like most things when looking at a pitch you take into consideration the lie of the land, with a normal pole awning its easy to make adjustments to compensate for it, with an air awning you are tied a little, but with a slight modification ( as I did at wheatalot ) it sorts it self out easier ;)

In defence of the awning, when we had pooling the rain was hissing down. Bloke with a beard was summoning animals in pairs. Not had a problem in normal rain.

Surfer.
You are not alone. Our previous Dore ma and latest Isabella have held gallons of water.
As far as I can tell it has always been directly related to the lie of the land and the relationship on pitching between the caravan and awning.
I doubt it is a flaw in your awning or your erection (sic ) :p

Our previous awning a Ventura Marlin never suffer from pooling. The ground is quite level at Bunree CC site so doubt if that is the cause. Considering the price we paid for the Air Ace plus extras, we are getting very disillusioned with the awning. In two different places htere are unsightly noticable marks on the awning, one curtain had a broken clip on delivery, another curtain after only two uses is fraying badly at the bottom, plus we have heavy condensation in the awning in addition to the water pooling. We had condensation in our other awning but not to the extent that it is almost like a rainfall and we try and have it well ventilated at night! To replace the curtains that are faulty is going to take about 6 months! Otherwise the awning is very nice and easy to erect
