Just bought a Lafuma RSX recliner mail order - can't walk out how to recline it! I've tried just leaning back but it doesn't shift! The only way to recline it I've found so far is to get someone else to push it back whilst I'm already sat in it.

Anybody got any tips on how to get it to recline(serious ones only please!)

Many thanks

Pam

Uner each arm is a small lever, turn this to enable you to recline, then lock it up again by turning this lever to prevent you moving around backwards and forwards.

Hope this helps.

Hi Pam, I've just bought a couple of these and the instructions are on the back of the box. Presumably, yours were shipped without the box. The part you'd be interested in goes like this: 'To use your chair: check that both its front and back feet are as far apart as possible so that the chair is completely stable. To recline the chair, hold on to the armrest.Pull the levers under the armrests outwards to extend the chair as far as it will go or to lock your seat in your choice of intermediate position. Push the lever inwards until it is vertical before re-adjusting the position.' There, happy reclining.

Pam,

I find that your actual position in the recliner is also a factor.

All to do with Centre of Gravity needing to be at the Centre of Rotation, but I am of course a far bigger mass to move anyway so have to get it very close.

Try experimenting by altering your position within the chair.

How interesting, I didn't know there were any levers under the armrests!!! I just park my bum, hold on to the armrests and push downwards on the foot bar thingy ?????

I found the easiest way to deal with the Lafuma recliner is to put your feet on the foot rest, hands on the arms (relaxed) and push (make sure that it is not in the locked position to start with). The weight ratio makes the chair work perfectly! We had it demonstrated to us prior to purchase.

Oh Ann, how eloquently put!!! Thats exactly what I wanted to say.. unfortunately my explanation had an East End vibe - I know what I mean anyway. They used to refer to me as posh and call me Hyacinth until you came along...
