Hi, Have just got back from a weekend away & have used our Outdoor Revolution Techlite 1 awning for the 2nd time. However we can not get it to erect right even following the brief instructions supplied! Anybody got any tips?

It rained this morning & when I went into the awning everything was wet. Not heavily wet but where the rain was falling it seemed to be coming through the roof slightly. Surely this can't be right?

Would very much appreciate your comments & advice. Thanks

Hi TLC.

First thing to do is ignore the instructions!!

This is what we do:

First, unfold the awning from the side of the van. Then, thread the pole through the sleeves and then into the brass rings at the bottom of the awning so that it forms an arch shape. Whilst other half or kids are holding the front up, go inside the awning and peg the back down so that it is tight against the side of the van. When you've done that, go back outside. Now you can pull the arch shaped front out and adjust it so that it is nice and tight, peg down the three guy lines at the front to hold it place. When you've done that you can peg down the rest of the awning and the other two guy lines at the back of the awning. When it's all pegged down, adjust the two elastic strings so that you get a seal between the awning and the van. When you've done that if you look up you'll see the remainder of the bag. Roll it up and fasten with the toggles.

One thing it does say in the instructions that it may leak a little at first. The stitching will then swell and seal the stitch holes.

We've used ours three times now in wind and rain and its been fine. We are really pleased with it.

Hope this is of some help, it may seem a little long winded but this is how we do it and it only takes about twenty mins.

Regards,

Phil.

Is it condensation due to lack of breathability of the fabric? You get the same problem with cheap tent flysheets. I am thinking of buying a techlite however because of its lightness and no poles to push against my shiny new van. Question, how good a seal can you get to the side of the van? Our favourite pitch faces the sea and the wind off the sea blows straight though the gap awning to van, it is a 20 year old trio porch awning past its best now.

Hi, strangely we put ours up in exactly the same way as Phil: ignore instructions, back flat against the van first then the pole guys. Have used it in very wet weather and in a stiff breeze with no problem.
