What's happened to all the previous threads and posts on this sub section?
In particular I can't find Parksy's and Sproket's idiots guide to posting pictures. Without that I can't remember how to get my pics into / out of photobucket!!

Helppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers

That's a very good question, DD. I hadn't realised until you said that previous postings in this Our Website section have vanished.....strange, since there are lots and lots of previous pages of postings in the other sections. Another thing for the techies to address. As to the pics thing, can't help I'm afraid - other than to say that someone (actually, 2 or 3 people, if memory serves me) has within the last day or so said that you need to use the Direct Link code on Photobucket to post pics. Don't know whether that's any help, doesn't actually mean much to me, I'm only passing on what I read! LOL

Hi
The landing pages in each forum now show the last two months' worth, so anything else would need to be searched for. What I can do, however, is change it so that any posts which are marked as 'sticky' by mods will remain at the top of the list. Foolish of me not to have thought of that, will sort today.
Now, that's all very well but I'm not sure any post on posting images done for the previous forum will apply here, since it's a very different mechanism. I will however start an FAQ post in this forum which we and the moderators can add to as and when.

Hi, newbie here but long-time moderator of another Haymarket site. Thought I'd get signed in in case I can help at all
1) To upload a picture, you'll first need to have it stored on a site such as Flickr or Picasa, or any other picture hosting site.
Copy the URL of the picture, not the picture hosting site page it's on: if in doubt, click on the picture, then right click or ctrl-click and choose save image location.
So for example this picture
IMG_0038.JPG

is in one of my Picasa albums. The page it's on is
http://picasaweb.google.com/andrew.everard/KyotoJapan2630122009#5421310577529973906
but the picture URL is
http://lh5.ggpht.com/__fLYIFPru1E/SzxdPza97JI/AAAAAAAABao/__dmHADVl98/s800/IMG_0038.JPG.
The second one – the actual picture – is the one you want.
3) Then click the little 'tree' symbol on the menu bar of the Forum posting window and paste in the URL on the pop-up window this creates.
4) On that same pop-up, set the dimensions of the picture – the only one you need worry about is the first one, which should be set to maximum 400, and the other left blank.
5) Click the 'insert' button.
Hope that helps.

DD when you open the Reply dialog box on the toolbar click on the little tree. Another box will open and it will say 'Image URL'.
Copy the Direct Link from your pic on PhotoBucket and paste it into 'Image URL'.

Bingo,
ape.gif
should be done.

Stray psychobabble now gone – hey, it was my first post here! Think it was the site fluffing a gear-change between your vibrant font and my plain ol' style-free stuff.
Anyway, hope the picture primer will help a bit – will try to assist on other points, but will have to leave registration problems and the like to JD and Austin, as I only have the key to the middle-management washroom, not the one on the executive floor.

It's nice innit, this 'vibrant font' ! Actually, that was another question of mine (which I've already asked but is clearly not on JD's or Austin's priority list.....can't think why not!) - is there a facility which can be set up in My Account to have whichever font/style/colour of type you choose to have on a permanent basis, rather than having to do it manually (and annoyingly boringly) each and every time you post? I know you can on some other forums - I've done it!

Sue,
At the moment it's not something you can do, and I'm not even sure it's something we can do.
JD and A are a bit busy snagging the basics of the site functions at the mo – one of the reasons why I'm multitasking from my usual discussions of woofers and tweeters to lend a hand here – but in the fullness of time I'm sure they'll look into it.
It'll take a while, though, so don't hold your breath – or you'll go even more purple.
