Travelling from South West to Kent this coming weekend and thought might be nice to stop at Henley for a couple of nights. There are two sites fairly close to the river - one is the CC site another just down the road is the Swiss International Farm Camping Site. Anyone been to either or both and any preference, According to the CC book site is adjacent road and might expect traffic noise. Also, looking at sites on Google Earth there appears to be a sewage farm behind the trees on the CC site. Would be grateful for any info. on either site.

The CC site is indeed adjacent to the road, which is quite a busy one, so I would suggest you pitch towards the rear of the site. We didn't find the road noise too intrusive, but it depends on your personal tolerance, I guess. Never noticed any smell from a sewage farm, didn't even realise there was one there!

Well if it's not a sewage farm it's either a secret establishment for mass destruction or some blinkin' great farm silos.

Hi Sue,

You would never notice because you are so fragrant :0)

We were at the Henley CC site a couple of weeks ago - only for one night though.

The site was suprisingly full, and all that was left was the roadside pitches, which we found to be rather intrusive. We've been there a couple of times before, and pitched on the other side of the site and the road noise didn't bother us at all.

Chris G,

I have stayed 3 times at the Caravan Club site, the last time 4 weeks ago for 3 nights. I would fully recommend this site. On the last 2 visits we were pitched not far from the main road and both times we had no problems sleeping.

Where we live in Snowdonia you can hear a pin drop at night, unless the R.A.F. boys are practising low night flying with C130 transports or combat aircraft!!

If it is a sewage farm there is no trace of it on site.

Even when the site is full it seems very peacefull.

We were at Henley early October, good site. Yes Marlow road noisy particularly early in the morning.

However a short stroll to Henley and the Thames. Great walk along the river to Marlow.

also to Hambleton lock and then to Hambleton and return along the river to come out near the site.Upstream to Lower Shiplake and beyond.

Good meal in the Rose and Crown in New street.

The COOK shop good for frozen meals very tasty.

Waitrose, Sainsburys and a good butchers in Town.

several areas to visit close by. To see the Red Kites worth a visit without all else. Really enjoyed it and will go again
