Does any one have any good ideas about the beds and bedding.

I have purchased a new van with fixed bed and the silly quilt cover looks nice but slides all over the place.(oh does have the nice fleetwood logo on it). The mattress also moves. So hay I would like a nice nights sleep after all that why i brought the fixed bed. HELP ME!

You can get sheets of a sort of woven-looking soft plastic which are non-slip; marketed for stopping rugs sliding among other things. I can't think what it's called, but a couple of squares of that under the mattress will keep it in place.

On top of the mattress use a cheap mattress topper - usually in a sort of imitation sheepskin type surface. This can be firmly tied down so that the sheet on top of it will behave.

You will find the mattress is smaller than the bed size, this is to allow the bed to be raised for access. There is often a filler cushion to jam the thing.

My own van (not Fleetwood I am afraid) came with both mattress cover as well as quilt cover and pillow covers. The former holds both matresses together and the latter, we don't use as they are too thick and heavy. We use 2 domestic duvets, summerweight and heavy weight and depending on weather one goes on the bottom, the other on top. So we use domestic covers and these work just fine.

The other addition we made was a mattress topper from IKEA as this gives a little more depth, plus we had it from the old van where the bed was made up from the dinette

HI M,

Which Heritage have you got, the 640 has a choice of three fixed beds, all different. Mine is a 640ES and has a 6'6" x 4'6" fixed bed which is standard domestic double bed size with all the corners still on it, the 640I has a smaller bed and the 640CB has a center bed with a corner missing, all of which come with the Fleetwood bedding that we have not used as we dont trust the dogs claws on it. We use a duck feather mattress topper which is good on top of the standard memory foam and domestic fitted sheets with a duvet etc and it is fine with no movement, other bed sizes will be more difficult but you may be able to get some bedding made to fit, I think I have seen an advert for this in a magazine, but cannot remember which one.

Keep still and have a good nights sleep and the bed covers will also refrain from excessive movement. The weight of our dog who sleeps on the bottom of our bed helps to keep the covers in place.
