New to Caravaning in fact that new I don't own one yet. I drive a Citroen C5 Saloon, from the information I have managed to get from my user manual My C5 can pull 1392kg (85%). Any recommendations for a new caravan 4 berth or higher. All replies welcome.

Mike there are so many lay outs to choose from it would be impossible to recommend a specific van, get yourself and the family to as many dealers as you can, jump in the vans and have a play, take your time and look over them, take a note pad and list pro's and cons
there will be a comprimise some where along the way but it's great fun looking.
Parksy(Mod) will be along soon and give you loads of links on first time vanning,
Good Luck
By the way I have a Fleetwood (Now obsolite) which was made by Adria and they have some good vans, take a look at the link.

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum.

As Kevin mentioned, there are lots of different makes and models of caravan to choose from. If you are considering buying a new model and if you are within reasonable travelling distance of the west midlands it might be a good idea to visit the NEC Motorhme & Caravan Show in October, where almost every new make and model of caravan will be exhibited for you to look around.
The Practical Caravan team will be on hand at the show to give you tips and advice and you can often get a good deal at the show, but it's important to bear in mind that if the supplying dealership is a long way from where you live you will need to factor in the cost of towing to the dealership for servicing, warranty work etc.
I don't know if you've ever towed a trailer or a caravan before but if not you could try towing for the first time courtesy of the C&CC (Camping & Caravanning Club) at the NEC show.
If you do invest in a new caravan whether you buy from a dealer at the NEC or from where you live, remember that if you don't ask you don't get!
Avoid paying the 'screen price', make the sales person work for their commission, which means don't become over enthusiastic no matter how nice the caravan looks, they all look nice.
Aim for a price discount and try to have some accessories as part of the deal because a leisure battery, gas bottle, awning, Aquaroll and Wastemaster are not included in the price which means forking out more cash unless you can haggle for them, the sales staff can only say no but they will still need that sale .........

Welcome. So glad you gave done your homework on the recommended 85% guide. It works for us but for you as your a newbie. Stick to around that, no more than 60mph on motorway and never forget your towing mirrors. Always keep an eye on your nose weight and how you load your van. We're all here to help xx

Thanks for that, Have had a look at the Addria range and they seem to have quite a few options around the 1300kg mark. Will check them out at the camping and caravan show at the NEC.
