Hi Everyone.
Just joined the site as I was reading the forums and blogs and thought........why not!
Currently have a Bailey Pageant Champagne S5 and have today decided to upgrade to a Bailey Pegasus Bologna.
Had a good look around and we are Bailey fans although I do have some doubts about their finish, however, the comfort here is that they seem better than the competition. The 10 year water ingress guarantee is a big factor and the layout is as good as it get. I don't have the money to stretch to a Unicorn Barcelona and I definitely want the space of the twin-axel.
If anyone thinks I am mad or alternatively, wants to comment on how sane I am, I would love to hear from you.

Caravanner = Sane!
We have a twelve year old caravan - and some would say we were mad keeping it so long, but we love it, and haven't found anything we like better.
Welcome to Practical Caravan!

Hi Val A.
Thanks for your note and I appreciate the sentiment. Throughout my life I have never been considered sane so there is always a first time.
Cheers

Hi Southy, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum.
Good luck with the upgrade and mad or not, the ten year warranty will always make sense although it is no longer exclusive to Bailey since other manufacturers also offer a ten year body shell integrity warranty now.

ValA, you have a twelve year old van? Ours is 32 years old, and gets tramped all over Europe and UK for at least 20 weeks a year!
Good on you, girl. Let the others have the new van problems.

I know there are lots of others with older vans. I suppose what happens is that your van is 'trouble-free' and therefore if you like the layout then you don't think of changing it! If it lets in damp after a year, the kitchen falls to bits after another year, and then all the electrics stop working, then perhaps you change it! We just love ours, and have looked at 'replacements' but haven't found anything we like as much. I hope, like yours, it's still going after 32 years!
Thinking about that, our first van was built in 1978 - and at 34 years old is still being used by the family that bought it from us - so more happy 'oldie' owners!

Thanks for all your kind comments and welcomes.

I will say that my other favourite pastime is nearly 44 years old. She is past it and definitely not worth trading in but I put up with the bits that go wrong on a regular basis........But thats marriage for you!
